The Relationship between Person-organization Fit and Employee Creativity: The Mediating Role of Creative Capital
Abstract
This paper seeks to explore the relationship between person-organization fit and employee creativity. Based on the creativity literature, I develop a combined construct, namely creative capital which is defined as an individual’s resources from intrinsic motivation, task-relevant skills and knowledge, and external support, and propose that creative capital mediates the positive impact of person-organization fit on employee creativity. Theoretical and managerial implications including ideas on managing creativity (instead of managing for creativity) and future research directions are discussed.
